Swami Prakashanand Saraswati on Krishna’s Infinite Divine Form | Gita Series Part 1, Speech 5

The Divine Bliss, which is the source of all happiness, is related to its Knowledge that was revealed in its original form by the Supreme Divine power, Krishna, during His miraculous appearance in this world. That was the Gita. The origin of all the spiritual “isms” and the knowledge of all the knowledges, which has now been further simplified by His Divinity Swami Prakashanand Saraswati, the foremost disciple of Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, who is the Supreme Divine descension of this age.

The Gita is not only a philosophy.  It is a promise of God.

क्षिप्रं भवति धर्मात्मा शश्वच्छान्तिं निगच्छति |
कौन्तेय प्रतिजानीहि न मे भक्त: प्रणश्यति ||

Kṣhipraṁbhavatidharmātmāśhaśhvach-chhāntiṁnigachchhati.
Kaunteya pratijānīhina me bhaktaḥpraṇaśhyati.

It tells to merge all the spiritual formalities into the exclusiveness of loving devotion to the Supreme form of God, and you will receive His vision.

TheDivine souls!

In the last meeting I explained about the secret of Krishna name. The word “Krishna”. What is the meaning?Krishna means the allblissful, all beautiful, all charming, all attractive and all loving supreme personality of God. That is meant by one word – Krishna. Or you can say like this: the supreme absolute love of God that contains the supreme absolute charm, supreme absolute beauty, supreme absolute kindness, supreme absolute attraction, whatever it is, that is called by one word – Krishna. So, Krishna has a very specific meaning behind that. Krishna is not the word of a religion. Religions have taken this word. So in the name of Krishna, religions have been formed. That’s how it is. The question was,“Then what is the form of Krishna?”That all blissful, all loving form of Krishna form of God. What is that form?

So, I explained that Krishna appeared on this Earth planet in a human-like form. Did He take a human form? No. He came in His original form. He never changed anything. He didn’t change anything at all. Whatever He is, He simply descended; without any change, without any addition, without any subtraction. As He is, the same He descended. SoHis form is like human, but He did not come as a human. He never took a human body, only God in a human-like form, you can say.So His form is like that. But He is God, the supreme, the Almighty, the absolute, the most loving.

So where does He live? If He has a form He should be living somewhere. No, not somewhere. He lives everywhere because He’s God. And God is always omnipresent. So where is everywhere?

Again, Veda says,

Sanskrit verse

So where does He live?“He lives in His own glory.”We live in a country, in a town, in a house, in a room. The room is not you. You are not the room. You live in that room. You live in that house. You live in that country. Two separate things. In the Divine world, God Himself has manifested as His own abode. So you can say that He has His own Divine world. So there are two worlds: material world and the Divine world. Two are entirely separate – no mixing. Entirely different dimensions: Divine dimension -the Divine world, and material dimension -the material world.  There is no comparison of any kind. They are entirely different like day and night. So when there is a Divine world there must be a sun or moon or light. Gita and Vedas say the same thing,

नतत्रसूर्योभातिनचन्द्रतारकंनेमाविद्युतोभान्तिकृतोऽयमग्नि: ।

Na tatrasūryobhatinachandratārakaṃnemāvidyutobhantikuto ‘yamagnih.

Na tatrasūryobhatinachandratārakaṃ…“

Oh, in that world is no sun, no moon, no stars, no lightning, no fire.”It must be dark. It’s not dark.

चिदानन्दंज्योतः

Chidanand jyotih

Brahma Sangeet says,“What is chidanand?”Krishna Himself has made Himself the whole thing. There is sun, there is moon, but no stars because stars are these various galaxies, various suns, different worlds but the Divine world is one single world. Here we have different galaxies, uncountable galaxies in one universe.  There are billions of stars, and with billions of stars millions and millions of Earth planetswith people living there. And millions and millions of Brahmas also. One Brahma takes over one planetary system only. So ,there are uncountable worlds in one universe, but in the Divine abode there is one single Divine abode. It’s called Golok or Divine Vrindaban or Krishna’s dham or Krishna’s abode. So there’s one single abode? Yeah, and Krishna Himself has made Himself as the light of that abode. So there is sunlight, moonlight but it’s all Divine, not material. Nothing from this world, but there it’s all Divine. It’s very difficult to understand and more difficult to explain. As I explained before there’s no example in this world that could relate to that phenomena. So we try to explain something to give you some idea of that world.

Anyway that Divine world exists in its own dimension. This world is in its own dimension and both are unlimited. This universe: no beginning and no end. But in our one single universe, one single limitless universe there are uncountable worlds, uncountable galaxies, uncountable Earth planets. In that unlimited Divine abodethere are not unlimited sections – there are no sections. Although there are uncountable Saints but there is one God. You might think that if there is one God and uncountable Saints, how would they reach Him? You see in your one country suppose there are a few million people living there and they have to reach one particular place, so they have to drive 2 hours, 10 hours or fly 8 hours or 10 hours to come from another part of the world. It’s so difficult yet there are only limited people living in this Earth planet. And (in the Divine world there are) uncountable Saints and they have easy access to Krishna. The Divine world not material. I say that it’s entirely different. Although uncountable Saints are there, Krishna is only one, but they all perceive that Krishna is with them. That is the Divine miracle. They never feel Krishna is far from us. No! He is very close – closer than the closeness; He is very, very close all the time. Anyway there is such a world that exists beyond imagination. So Gita and Vedas say,“Na chandratārakaṃ.” It is not material thing over there.Divine light is there,Divine sun Divine moon,Divine earth,Divine vegetation,Divine plants. And God in His own Divine form lives there, but that Divine form is Divine. With the same Divine formHe descended on this Earth planet. And that same Divine form was perceived by all the Saints, but it was not perceived by any of the souls because souls had material eyes, material mind, and material body. That’s the Divine abode. So has that been described? Yes. It has been described in all the scriptures – Gita describes, Bhagwatam describes in great detail, Puranas describe in great detail, even the Vedas in some detail, in the Upanishads like Krishna Upanishad and Radha Upanishad – in great detail. It’s all fully described. Krishna Himself has described.

You see when I mentioned about the scriptures that the descension of God is of two kinds:there is a total descension revealing total power is like in Krishna’s descension. And there is another kind of descension where He reveals a part of His power. It is called anshavatar when a part of His power is revealed. SoVed Vyas is also a descension of Krishna or Krishna’s power and Ved Vyas described all this in the Bhagwatam in great detail. It means Krishna Himself in the form of Ved Vyas described this whole thing. SoKrishna has a form,He has an abode and now comes the actual form of Krishna. How does He look like? Some people might think that the pictures we see of Krishna wearing a peetambar, yellow saffron dhoti, wearing a peacock feather, mormukut might be the imagination of some artist. No, absolutely not! It is all exactly hundreds of times described. In Vedas, in those Upanishads I mentioned, Krishna’s decoration is described briefly. In Bhagwatam it is described in greater detail and there were many rasikSaints. They wrote thousands of songs on the descriptions of Krishna in Braj bhasha.Songs of Krishna’s complete decoration from head to toe -from the beauty of His hair to the glow of His toenail were all completely described. His complexion and  ornaments, what He wears, how He wears, how He plays, the various kinds of flutes He holds, the various kinds of crown He wears, and on what occasion, and what kind of dressing up He does,it is all described in great, great detail. But commonly Krishna wears peetambar, yellow saffron dhoti, yellow saffron-color silken shawl, peacock feather diadem, bead chains, garland, all the ornaments and His age is something like 16 to 18 years old.You can think in local terms, and the same is described for Radha also. Soit’s fully described.

Is that form again an intellectual thing? It is a personified form. Yes. It isa personified form, but was never personified. It is a personal form not a personified form. Krishna’s form was never personified, never manifested, never came into being.Since eternity, He has the same form – since eternity. Again, a critic thinks sometimes that if He has a Divine form of that kind, then it is a personal form. Yes, it is personal. His personal-personal not your personal-personal. When you think of something personal, try to go deeper. Your mind is conditioned to the time factor and to the space factor. You think of something which is visible, which has a form, at a particular time and at a particular space, like you saw something. When did you see? The time. Where did you see this? It’s like in Kolkata, in New York, in this house, at that particular place and at a particular time you observed something. So,all your observations, your every single perception, signifies the time and the space. You cannot think of anything beyond that because it is absolutely, absolutely impossible for your mind to think about that thing, because mind is made like this. Your mind is totally conditioned, totally ingrained, with this kind of situation. So, beyond this you cannot imagine even if you try hard and harder and hardest! So you have to take it with faith; that’s the only reason. So although Krishna has a form, but that form is omnipresent just like His abode.

Just try to think… suppose (on) your Earth planet if you want to travel to India back and forth to America it’s so difficult; it’s a 16-hour flight, tiring and boring.  Then you reach just a few thousand miles distance. Suppose your world is as big as your galaxy. Your Earth planet is as big as that. Then it is impossible to travel from this end to that end. Thousands and thousands and thousands of light years away. Even one light year is beyond your actual imagination. The light travels less than 200,000 miles a second. And then in a minute, in an hour, in a day, in a year, keep on calculating. It goes to billions and trillions. That many miles is called one light year. It’s a scientific term, one light year. So traveling as fast as light – and one light year is a big distance -and many thousand light years wide apart is this galaxy, and yet it’s limited. It has an end, from this end to that end. You see the vast sky and you make a big map of hundreds of galaxies. Your galaxy would be like this small. (Swamiji showing a couple of inches with his fingers.)  Imagine, a limited thing is beyond your ability to access.

But Golok extends to no limit and begins from no beginning – no end and no beginning. It’s endlessly expanding and every soul, meaning every Saint, who is there has access to Krishna, and Krishna is only one – not even two, not even three. There’s only one Krishna but he (Saint) finds, “Krishna, my beloved, is with me all the time, 24 hours! He lives with me, sleeps with me, eats with me, plays with me all the timeHe’s with me!”And there are uncountable Saints. How does it happen? There’s only one Krishna! Again, it’s a Divine miracle!

So it’s beyond understanding, beyond intellectual understanding, but within faithful understanding. There are two kinds of understandings: faithful understanding and intellectual understanding. It is beyond intellectual understanding but within faithful understanding. We must understand faithfully, not intellectually. Human intellect is too finite; it’s very little. And Divine things are greater than the greatest. However, Krishna andHis abode are all unlimited. Although Krishna has a form, but He is omnipresent. How is He omnipresent? That is His own Divineness. That’s the Divine miracle that it is there. But whatever you think as some kind of personification is not Divine personification – Divine personification was never personified. He eternally has a form and that form is omnipresent. That’s how you have to understand. So,Divine form is Divine form and material form is different. SoHe has a Divine form and He has very particular decorations, yet He can appear in any form you like. That’s what the Gita says. How it is, I’ll explain the next speech.

We will do chanting.
